Julia Sokolowska

Julia is a NY Cinematography and KOMEDA award-winning composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist. Since graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, she has worked as a composer, orchestrator for many high-profile TV shows including the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Empire, Revenge and popular feature films like Book of Life, Divos! as well as a few upcoming Netflix productions. Julia has also worked with major pop and R&B artists including Usher, Elton John, Rod Steward, Anthony Hamilton, Kendrick Lamar, NAS, Judith Hill, David Foster, Leona Lewis, Matt Morrison, Richard Smallwood and many others.


Julia began her career in LA in 2012 by working alongside Chris Walden and David Foster on producing Matt Morrison’s debut album featuring Elton John. Under this team, she arranged albums including Rod Steward’s ‘Merry Christmas, Baby’ and Hollywood Bowl shows including: ‘Tribute to Ray Charles’ featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Count Basie Big Band, Arturo Sandoval, Babyface and Martina McBride.


In 2013 Julia started working as an arranger for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. From there she began a series of collaborations with artists like Anthony Hamilton, Mary Mary, El De Barge, Judith Hill and California Philharmonic. In 2014, alongside the composer Phil Eisler and orchestrator Tim Davies, Julia orchestrated for Book of Life, Empire, Revenge, Troll Hunters and many other films and TV shows. Two years later she founded the arranging group Hollywood Arrangers (Usher, Anthony Hamilton, Judith Hill, El DeBarge, PSY)


Julia has since written iconic film scores for many Hollywood productions including Beauty and the Beast, Destino by Walt Disney and Salvador Dali, Divos!, Army of The Dead for Netflix, Pizza and Whine, JIVA, The Whistle for PBS and international films The Unconsciousness, Sailing Through Life, The Aylesbury Estate and others.


In 2018 Julia created the highly acclaimed all-female film scoring group Illuminating Music in order to promote gender diversity in Hollywood. This prestigious group has already created cinematic scores internationally for several independent films.


In 2019, together with Indian star AR Rahman and a team of international composers, Julia was asked to write the international anthem for Ken Kragens ‘Hands Around the World’ project. The song along with the projects VR platform are intended to raise awareness of the climate change and weather-related disasters. Julia serves as a board member of the Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles and the Seastanding Institute in Florida.
