Flavio Lemelle is a Brazilian born, NYC-based composer / sound designer / guitarist. His music has been heard in over 50 theatrical film trailers (Us, A Quiet Place II), hundreds of TV shows (20/20, Dateline), advertisements and branding spots (RedBull, Fila), Burning Man installations (Flux Foundation), music documentaries (Beyond Ipanema starring David Byrne, M.I.A., Caetano Veloso) and remixes of classic recordings (Barbara and the Browns’ “If It’s Good to You”).
Flavio earned his Master’s degree at NYU in Music Technology where he studied real-time interactive music systems, digital sound synthesis, and remote music collaborations techniques.
Flavio’s compositional and sonic approaches include prepared instruments and extended techniques (guitar, cello, piano), random processes / chance (Fibonacci numbers), minimalism, found sounds / field recording, and electro-acoustic improv / manipulation. These ideas are featured on albums released under his HyperContour alias (Dyad, Ambiguous, Before).
